Mobility Ramps - Read This First

In order to supply you with the most appropriate and safest mobility ramps, please take the time to read the following information. You will need to know the maximum incline your chair or scooter is designed for, which can be found in the owner's manual .

The maximum slope for wheelchair mobility ramps should be 1" of rise to 12" of length (4.8° angle / 8.3% grade). To work out the rise, measure the height between the top of the steps or landing, and the ground.

For Example: a rise of 3" requires a ramp at least 36" (3ft / 91cm) long.

The maximum slope for power chair mobility ramps should be 1.5" rise to 12" length (7.1° angle / 12.5% grade). To work out the rise, measure the height between the top of the steps or landing, and the ground.

For Example: a rise of 3" requires a ramp at least 24" (2ft / 61cm) long.

Use the table below to work out the length of ramp that you need. Start off by finding the rise on the left. Then, move to the right until you come to the proper degree of incline. The minimum length of mobility ramp you will need will be at the top of the column. You can also use a mobility ramp longer than the suggested length.
